AACB Annual Scientific Congress Travelling Scholarships
The Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (AACB), is pleased to provide up to 6 Travelling Scholarships (across three categories) for AACB members to attend the APFCB 2024 Congress in Sydney, NSW.
AACB Travel Scholarship Application Form

Applications must be submitted online.
Please read the information below carefully, before applying for a scholarship.
Scholarships
- Metropolitan Member Scholarships: for members who work in a major metropolitan area.
- Regional Member Scholarships: for members who work in a regional area.
- Early Career Scholarships: for members with less than 10 years’ experience at the close of applications.
Inclusions of the scholarship
- Full Congress registration: 31 October – 3 November 2024 in Sydney, NSW, Australia.
- Four nights’ accommodation during the Congress.
- A discounted return economy airfare.
*Accommodation and airfare will be booked by AACB.
*In the case of a successful overseas applicants, AUD$1000 will be provided towards the airfare.
Eligibility
- The applicant must have been a financial member of AACB for 18 months (from the closing date).
- The applicant must not have received an AACB Scholarship during the preceding twelve months.

Favourable consideration will be given to members who contribute to their local AACB Branch Committee, who submit an oral or poster abstract for the APFCB 2024 Congress.
Successful applicants must provide a report to the Editor of the Clinical Biochemist Newsletter for inclusion in a post Congress newsletter.

APFCB-AACB Travelling Scholarships
APFCB is pleased to announce the offer of 15 scholarships of SGD 2500 each for successful candidates to attend the 17th APFCB Congress in Sydney, NSW, Australia, from the 31 October-3 November 2024.
Criteria for acceptance:
- Less than 20 years of service in the field of Laboratory Medicine
- Member of an APFCB member-society
- Abstract accepted to the 17th APFCB Congress
- Unable to find funds to cover expenses from other sources (acknowledged by employer for employee or university officer for student)
- Complete the application form no later than 31 July 2024
Note:
The Scholarship awards SGD 2500.
The application together with proof of acceptance of abstract(s) and a letter from the applicant’s supervisor confirming that the abstract(s) has (have) not been previously presented and that the applicant has had less than 20 years of service in laboratory medicine must reach the Chair of the Education Committee by 31 July 2024.
The scholarships will be paid after the poster/oral presentation at the 17th APFCB Congress in Sydney, NSW. Should the awardee not be present for his/her oral or poster presentation(s) the scholarship will not be paid.
The scholarship also includes a full complimentary registration to attend the congress.

17th APFCB Congress Travel Scholarships
The 17th APFCB Congress Organising Committee is delighted to announce the availability of 25 travel scholarships for the upcoming 17th APFCB 2024 Congress. The Organising Committee understands the significance of fostering inclusivity and ensuring access to knowledge-sharing opportunities for all individuals, regardless of financial constraints. Through these scholarships, we hope to provide financial assistance to support your attendance at the meeting.
Please carefully read the following key dates and eligibility criteria before submitting an application.
Key application dates:
Applications open: December 2023
Applications close: 16 June 2024
Notifications: from 1 July 2024
Scholarship types:
- Low or middle income country scholarships
- Early Career scholarships
Application eligibility criteria for all scholarships:
- Must be presenting an abstract at the meeting (confirmed for an oral or poster presentation)
- Must attend the full meeting, with proof of attendance each day required*.
*proof of attendance details to be confirmed by secretariat closer to the meeting
Additional criteria:
- Low/Middle Income countries – must be from a low or lower middle income country as identified on the Development of Finance Standards list found here.
- Early Career Scholarships - for young scientists with less than 10 years’ experience at the close of applications.
Application questions:
- Demonstrate how your attendance at the congress will impact you / your country or region.
- Demonstrate how you will share your learnings at APFCB 2024 within your organisation / country or region.
Terms and Conditions:
- Four nights accommodation in a hotel nominated by the Conference Secretariat will be provided, along with a complimentary full congress registration including workshops on Thursday morning.
- Registration and accommodation will be organised by the Secretariat.
- The Organising Committee Decision is final.
- Scholarship winners are responsible for any additional planning aspects of their attendance (including flights, visas, travel insurance etc.) and the Organising Committee is not liable for any of these charges.
- A report for the AACB Clinical Biochemistry Newsletter will also be required post congress. AACB will be in contact with recipients post congress.
